Healthy Lifestyles Week Is March 26-30
March 13, 2018 4:00 PM
Members and their families have a great opportunity to improve their health by attending Healthy Lifestyles, a health and wellness event that will be held at the Health and Dental Centers from March 26 until March 30. Those who attend will receive useful tips on living happier, healthier and longer lives, and in many cases receive quick tests and/or screening for various health issues. Best of all, no appointments are necessary to participate in Healthy Lifestyles week.
As always, diet (or nutrition) will be one of the most significant topics covered during Healthy Lifestyles, and there are many other things of value to be learned. Do you have a pre-diabetes condition? Tests are available to find the answer to this question. How is your blood pressure? What are the signs of a heart attack? Is your cholesterol too high? Those who visit the Health and Dental Centers for Healthy Lifestyles will learn why it is so important to know the answers to questions like these. Exercise is important, too, for maintaining a healthy heart and warding off certain illnesses, including cancer.
Stress management is also an important part of anyone’s life. Stress is related to many illnesses and it can cause difficulties in the home and on the job. Members who visit the Health and Dental Centers for Healthy Lifestyles can learn valuable information on managing stress. Members are reminded that representatives from the Members Health Assistance Program (MHAP) are readily available to answer questions and to offer the opportunity for counseling or to join support groups.
More than 5,000 members visited the Health and Dental Centers last year during Healthy Lifestyles week, and most of them took good advantage of this informative and valuable event. It put them on the road to a longer, happier and healthier life and was a clear sign that members and their families appreciate the value of this and all the other health and wellness events!
