Dues Increase, Previously Postponed, Going into Effect Sept. 1

August 25, 2022 2:58 PM

In July 2014, our membership voted by 89.9% to increase dues every September. Last year, in recognition of the hardships facing many members due to the pandemic, the Union’s Executive Board postponed the increase scheduled for 2021 until this September. Now that members are beginning to get back on their feet, the September 2021 and 2022 increases will be going into effect.

This September 1st, Dues Rate A (all union shops in NYC except the Boathouse and Rainbow Room) will increase by $1.11 per week (a combination of the 2021 and 2022 increase) and Dues Rate B (all shops outside of NYC) will increase by $0.47 per week.

IF YOU ARE LAID OFF:

Any members who remain laid off will still not be responsible for paying dues while out of work. In accordance with the HTC by-laws, if you are on an extended layoff for a period of two or more full consecutive calendar months, you are not required to pay union dues.

IF YOU HAVE AN EXPIRED CONTRACT:

The dues increase will be deferred for any members working at a shop without a current HTC contract until the members there ratify a new agreement.

If you have any concerns or questions, you may reach the HTC Dues Department at (212) 245-8100.
