Division A Scholarship Application Deadline Is May 31

This is the final notice that the deadline for submitting Division A scholarship applications for this year is May 31, 2014. No applications for scholarships or renewals can be accepted after that date.

Children of Hotel Trades Council members employed in Division A hotels are not eligible for the annual Vito J. Pitta scholarship awards, but they are eligible for this separate scholarship program, which is called the Hotel Trades Council Division A scholarships.

Although Division A comprises a much smaller group than the rest of the members in the Hotel Trades Council, the Division A scholarship program awards significant money in college grants. As an example, a total of $148,500 in scholarships and renewals have been awarded in just the last three years! The total amount of new scholarships and renewals in Division A in 2011 was $54,000, and more than $36,000 in Division A scholarship awards and renewals were handed out in 2012. Last year an additional $58,500 in total grants were awarded. The 2013 Division A winners included 13 first time recipients, who received scholarships of $2,500 each, and 13 previous Division A scholarship winners who received renewals of $2,000 each.

In addition to being children of Hotel Trades Council members employed in Division A hotels, students applying for these scholarships must be graduating high school seniors who will be attending an accredited four-year college or university in the fall of this year (2014) or eligible previous winners.

Again, children of Hotel Trades Council members employed in these Division A shops listed above are eligible for the Division A scholarship program if they are currently graduating high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university in the fall of this year (2014).

Applying for a Hotel Trades Council Division A scholarship is easy. Eligible children of Division A members should call Division A Benefits Coordinator Jerry Sammartino at 212-492-2136 to receive an application. Previous Division A scholarship winners who think they may qualify for renewals should also contact Mr. Sammartino at 212-492-2136. But hurry! There are several steps in the application process and the deadline for submitting completed applications to the Hotel Trades Council Division A scholarship program is May 31, 2014.
