Contract Won at Courtyard Newark Liberty International Hotel
Following the vote, Courtyard Newark Liberty International employees Samirah Bodison and Latrenya Paynes declare that the hotel is a union house!
The Union has won a contract at the Courtyard Newark Liberty International Hotel. “The contract is based on the Greater Regional Industry Wide Agreement, commonly referred to as the GRIWA, which is the groundbreaking master contract for New Jersey and Upstate New York” explained Richard Maroko, HTC Executive Vice President & General Counsel, who negotiated the agreement.
“The GRIWA is creating good paying and secure union jobs for hotel workers in New Jersey,” he said.
Courtyard employees unanimously ratified the agreement and they can now look forward to a new era of higher wages, better benefits, scheduling rights and strong job protections as part of the GRIWA. The Courtyard is the second Newark hotel in the past few months to win a contract, joining nearly two dozen others in New Jersey.
