A Union Member's Guide to Immigration
Many members have pressing questions about immigration, given the uncertainty of the time. From benefits under the contract to free access to attorneys, our Union has resources for members with questions about immigration issues or who want to take the next step to become a U.S. Citizen.
If you have questions or you want to become a U.S. Citizen, now is the time to take action!
Need time off to attend immigration proceedings?
The contract provides members with the right to take up to five unpaid working days off each year to attend immigration proceedings and any related matters.
Need legal assistance?
The Union’s Pre-Paid Legal Fund can provide covered members with an immigration attorney for free. The Fund has a network of lawyers to assist with asylum, deportation, citizenship, green card, and work authorization and adjustment of status cases.
Want assistance with applying for U.S. Citizenship?
Sign up to attend an upcoming information session with an attorney to review the eligibility requirements for U.S. Citizenship. Members who can move forward will receive one-on-one coaching to complete the naturalization application, followed by a final review of their application. The Union, with the support of the industry, has secured funding to help members pay part of the $760 application fee.
