The massive volunteer effort by HTC union members did not go unnoticed by New York City's political press. On Primary Day, the New York Observer reported on our union's massive volunteer turnout in support of Eric Schneiderman's successful bid for the Democratic nomination for State Attorney General. The Observer called our political program "one of the most sophisticated turnout operations in the state." It also noted the incredible outpouring of HTC volunteers on Primary Day. At the time it went to press, the union had 620 volunteers passing out fliers and knocking on doors all over the city. By the end of the day, that number grew to 667 volunteers.

Even before Primary Day, the New York Observer had taken note of HTC phonebanking and direct mail support for Schneiderman.

The Queens Chronicle also commented on our union's political power, naming HTC as one of the "powerful unions" supporting Francisco Moya in his successful bid to be the Democratic nominee for the office of State Assemblyman, 39th Assembly District.
