Senators change a key section of EFCA

Moderate democrat senators have weakened a key provision of the Employee Free Choice Act, a bill that, if passed, will make it easier for workers to obtain union representation. A card-check provision had been proposed that would have required business owners to recognize a union when a majority of workers signed authorization cards. It would have made joining a union faster and easier, but it has been dropped from the bill. Further changes to the bill are being considered and will likely be made as the legislative process continues.
