While litigation over the ownership of the Tavern on the Green name continues, plans and back-up plans for the auction of its assets, tangible and intangible, are made. At the close to 2009, the LeRoy family, who have run the restaurant since 1976, will begin vacating the space for Central Park Boathouse operator Dean Poll to take over operations. An auction of the restaurant's wares is set to begin January 13, and the LeRoys and the New York City Parks Department remain embroiled in a federal court case surrounding the rightful ownership of the name Tavern on the Green, which has been appraised at millions of dollars.
