The political prowess and hard work of Hotel Trades Council members continue to be recognized at high levels of the city's and state's government. New York City deputy mayor Kevin Sheekey said, "I would argue they are one of the most successful and may soon be the most successful independent political operation in the city."

Describing members as "among the most sought-after ground troops in any campaign," a Crain's NY Business article notes that 2,500 HTC members volunteered a total of 20,000 hours in 2008 and 2009 and that "500 HTC members, including 250 Tavern on the Green workers who are now battling for a contract, helped Mayor Michael Bloomberg eke out a victory on Election Day."
