United around housing, economic development, labor, and civil rights issues, 12 members of City Council have formed a new voting bloc they are calling the Progressive Caucus. The group's chief issues include a focus on living-wage jobs, paid sick days, stronger rent regulations, and increased low-income housing. The NY Hotel Trades Council takes special pride in this new voting caucus, as nine of the 12 members were endorsed by the union in previous elections, including Caucus leaders Brad Lander and Melissa Mark-Viverito, as well as Jumaane Williams, Margaret Chin, Ydanis Rodriguez, Daniel Dromm, Julissa Ferreras, Jimmy Van Bramer, and Debi Rose.
