The 665-room Sheraton Manhattan, a Hotel Trades Council hotel, is undergoing significant changes. Among them, the Sheraton brand will be dropped and all food service eliminated, except for the employee cafeteria and a buffet breakfast that will be available to guests. The hotel's redevelopment and rebranding are part of a $6 billion upgrade initiative Starwood's has undertaken. The union is working to see that members are kept informed, especially those directly affected by the changes. It will also be monitoring the overall situation to insure that members' contractual rights are respected and all benefits due them provided during this period of change.
