IT Systems Administrator

Summary:

As a member of the Information Technology Team, the successful candidate will act independently under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Infrastructure. 

We are seeking a seasoned IT Systems Administrator with extensive experience in Windows and Linux server environments, cloud services, database administration, VMware systems, and network infrastructure. The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security of all systems.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Provide systems support for the operations of HTC and to ensure the stable operation of the on-premises and cloud-based system resources. This duty includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining/administrating, and optimizing infrastructure and its components. Diagnose standard issues with HTC production equipment, including printers, network devices, and servers. Work closely with the Service Desk ticketing program process to resolve issues and close tickets. Provide updates and maintain team knowledge base. 

Monitor system resource use. Provide ongoing trend analysis for determining current needs and future resource requirements. Assert recommendations to management on system upgrades, vendor products, and system enhancements. Research, recommend, and implement changes to enhance system security. Initiate, test, and produce implementation plans for management.

  • Daily administration and management of the infrastructure and system availability, including performance checks, security monitoring, and connectivity checks.
  • Assist users and management to implement projects and service production applications as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system and application problems and create support cases.
  • Assure all systems are protected against physical and data security violations.
  • Perform system updates and application patch management, ensuring all systems are up-to-date and secure.
  • Document IT-related policies, procedures, and system diagrams.
  • Maintain all backups for infrastructure resources and confirm that all critical production systems are replicated or backed up. Recover any system failures.
  • Provide Tier II/III support to employees as needed.

Candidate Qualifications:

Proven track record with a minimum of five years of experience covering all aspects of system administration, including servers, workstations, storage, and network structures. In order to perform the assigned duties effectively, the candidate must meet the knowledge and experience requirements listed below:

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of cloud structures and services, including Office 365 Suite, Microsoft Azure, and AWS.
  • Knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Mac workstation, support and maintenance.
  • Administration of database systems MariaDB, FileMaker, MS-SQL, ensuring their reliability, efficiency, and security.
  • Competency in network structures, including LANs and WANs, switches, routers, NIPS/NIDS, Firewalls (Fortinet), Proxy Servers, TCP/IP OSI model, SNMP, FTP, and network performance monitoring tools.
  • Experience with storage structures such as SAN, NAS, and RAID Arrays, preferably Synology NAS.
  • Experience with VPN and MFA systems.
  • Familiarity with MDM systems, Endpoint Security solutions, preferably ESET, and Network IDS such as DarkTrace.
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices for asset, change, and service management.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell and Bash scripting.
  • Knowledge of system tools, including Zabbix, Puppet, Foreman, Munki configuration, Graylog SIEM, and system management tools.
  • Knowledge of SIEM systems for security information and event management.
  • Knowledge of printer administration and support, including printer configuration and hardware troubleshooting.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to think critically – Use logic and analysis to identify the potential system enhancements and flaws in security measures
  • Competency in system documentation and ability to analyze, interpret, and present research findings in clear, concise reports.
  • Must be comfortable working in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be flexible in schedule to support department needs.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • Any of the following certifications: Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cloud, & Security

Salary:

$50,000 - $70,000
