NYS Unemployment Link and Union Survey

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you have successfully filed a claim, continue to go to http://labor.ny.gov/signin to make weekly certifications or to view your claim information.

We are under the understanding that if you have been trying to call the NY State DOL and partially completed an unemployment application, at this point, they should be returning a call to you. The caller ID may appear as “PRIVATE CALLER” (or a blocked call). In order to verify that it is not a fraudulent call, NY State DOL staff will verify a) the date you filed your application and b) the type of claim.

On Friday, April 10, 2020 the New York State Unemployment Office launched a new web portal to simplify and speed up the filing of unemployment claims. We tested it Friday morning and it worked, however we had problems logging in using certain web browsers. Using a PC, Firefox worked but a message appeared saying the connection was not secure, but it still worked. Using a Mac, Safari worked. Keep in mind that different browsers might get different results depending on the individual computer you are using.

1. If you have not already attempted to file and have been laid off, go to New York State Unemployment Link:

https://unemployment.labor.ny.gov/login

2. Come back and complete this Union Survey:

Please fill out this form to let us know if you were able or not to get through and file your claim on the new NYS Unemployment website. We want to know how many of our members are having trouble getting their unemployment benefits processed. We will continue to use the information we are getting from our membership to communicate with New York State so they can continue to make improvements. Please include your contact information, so we can reach you if we need to ask you additional questions.
