Member Education Coordinator

Who We Are:

HTC is the union of hotel and gaming workers in New York and New Jersey. We are widely recognized as the most powerful union in this industry in the world, with the best contracts. Our largely immigrant membership enjoys a middle-class lifestyle that is unheard of in an industry where workers are generally exploited and living in poverty. The children of our members have the opportunity to go to college and become professionals because of their parents’ hard work.

Unlike most unions, our membership is expanding, and in the last ten years our membership has grown from 25,000 to over 40,000. In state and local politics, we are famous for our clout and for “punching above our weight.” That’s because our membership loves their union and actively volunteers more than most union members. This is largely due to the fact that we are very serious about having an excellent, talented staff.

If you want to fight for and win social justice, this is the best place to do it.

The Role:

We’re looking to hire a Member Services Coordinator to oversee and expand our member training programs and help launch a number of new services that our Union can provide to members – beyond representing them on the job.

Our Training Programs:

The Member Services Coordinator will play a key role in expanding our training programs by developing new curricula and recruiting and onboarding instructors who are experts in the subject matter. They will also be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our existing training programs. This includes preparing our training program calendars, conducting member enrollment and outreach, preparing regular attendance reports and required paperwork, and managing relationships with the training program teachers.

Our New Member Services:

The Union’s leadership has announced a strategic plan to expand and re-think the services that our Union can provide to members. We want to tackle problems that have plagued working people for decades including the lack of affordable housing, the rising cost of child care, access to education, the high cost of college tuition, and the obstacles to becoming a citizen. The Member Services Coordinator will play a key role in launching these new initiatives by identifying and managing relationships with partner organizations, conducting research, planning member events, and overseeing the new programs as they get off the ground.
