HTC has won a contract for the Front Desk, Housekeeping, Driver and Maintenance employees at the Candlewood Suites Nanuet. Union employees are now covered by the Greater Regional Industry Wide Agreement, or GRIWA for short, which is set to expire on March 31, 2018, and has also agreed to the successor GRIWA negotiated by the Union. The employees unanimously ratified the contract on September 6th, 2017.

To stem the rising tide of healthcare costs, the Union negotiated to drastically reduce healthcare premiums for Union represented employees. Union employees are now guaranteed the following through the contract: pension eligibility, guaranteed wage increases, much improved overtime rights, part-time premium pay, increased PTO (e.g. holidays, sick/personal/vacation, job security through “just cause”, job protections against changes in ownership and/or management, and the contractual right to be treated with dignity and respect.

“The GRIWA transforms hotel jobs into excellent union hotel jobs”, said Richard Maroko, HTC Executive Vice President & General Counsel, who negotiated the agreement. Maroko continued, “HTC will continue to fight for better wages and benefits for hotel workers in this region.”
