COBRA Qualifying Events

While this issue of Hotel Voice explains the choice members and/or their families have when health coverage through employment is lost, it is also a good time to review the events that may qualify them for COBRA. Here is a list of those events.

● Voluntary or involuntary termination of the covered employee’s employment. This includes layoffs, discharges, shop closings, etc.

● Reduced hours of work for the covered employee.

● Divorce or legal separation of a covered employee.

● Death of a covered employee; or

● Loss of status as a “dependent child,” i.e. age 26.
