In the immediate aftermath of information seemingly tying gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino to emails that were racist and sexually explicit, his campaign manager acknowledged Paladino had sent "'e-mails with some regrettable material'" and "'t's behavior that Carl regrets.'"

An editor for the web site that disclosed a number of the e-mails (WNYMedia.net) said it had accepted their authenticity after contacting three of the many individuals to whom the e-mails had been cc'ed. The state chairmen from both major parties released statements about the e-mails, with the Republican chairman referring to them as "'disturbing,'" and the Democratic Party chairman saying they "'disqualify him completely from public service.'"
