The New York Times reports that a $30 million, 90,000 square-foot resort directed at a gay clientele is scheduled to start opening in Manhattan in early 2011. The Out NYC Urban Resort will include a 127-room Axel Hotel among its numerous attractions. The resort will open in stages and is a project of Parkview Developers, which currently has "upscale" Axel hotels in Barcelona, Berlin, and Buenos Aires. When complete, it will transform a massive, long-vacant property on the western end of West 42nd Street.
