Members of the Hotel Trades Council turned out in force for a spirited action at Nestle's Nespressure boutique on Madison Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East Side on March 30. Some 60 union members chanted and distributed hundreds of 'Stop Nespressure' leaflets to residents and tourists about Nestle's violations of trade union rights in Indonesia and Pakistan.

On March 29, the day before the demonstration, the union wrote to Nestle corporate management for the USA and to corporate management in Vevey, Switzerland to declare that they would be publicly demonstrating in New York to highlight members' concerns over the unresolved labor conflicts in Indonesia and Pakistan, and that they would be returning until the conflicts were satisfactorily resolved.
