Latest Coney troubles: unions, ‘hundreds of millions’ in infrastructure

The City Council's plan to build hotels, big box stores, and 4,000 apartments in Coney Island has hit more roadblocks. Community groups and a coalition of unions, including the Hotel Trades Council, have demanded better wages and an increase in affordable housing. Furthermore, the neighborhood is in dire need of improvements to its sewer and water system, and the streets need to be lifted several feet, all of which could cost well over half a billion dollars.
