The new union contracts were ratified at the Caribe Hilton, the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza, and the El San Juan Hotel and Casino in Puerto Rico, on Saturday, January 30, 2010, by a combined majority of 97.28 percent.

Copies of the new Memorandum of Agreement and the 2010 Ratification Book, in English and Spanish, were distributed to the members of Local 610 several days prior to the ratification vote. A summary of the 2010 Ratification Book is available here, and the photographs contained in the booklet here as a slide show.

The contracts are now in effect. Work will immediately begin on combining the new Memoranda of Agreement with the full contracts for each shop. Those consolidated contracts will then be carefully translated into Spanish and they will become the official collective bargaining agreements.

Local 610 President Felix Mejas commented on the overwhelming majority for ratification: "This is obviously a proud and happy day for the membership of our union."
