HTC endorses Democrat Grace Meng for Congress

The Hotel Trades Council is proud to give our whole-hearted endorsement to Grace Meng for U.S. Congress. She will be a strong advocate for the close to 3,000 Hotel Trades Council members, many of them immigrants, who live in the newly-redrawn 6th Congressional District, which includes Flushing, Elmhurst, Rego Park, and Middle Village Queens.

As a daughter of immigrants, Meng has a personal understanding of the struggles that immigrants face. In the New York State Assembly, she fought for the rights of immigrants and working people by helping to pass bills that strengthened State laws against wage theft and discrimination by employers -- abuses that occur far too often in the hotel industry.

In the past four years, our union has become a force in New York City and State politics. We are powerful because of the thousands of dedicated and politically informed members who volunteer significant amounts of their time to speak to their co-workers, neighbors, and complete strangers to get-out-the-vote for candidates who will fight for us when they are in office.

Our members are ready to do their part to help tip the scales in this very close campaign. Houseman Ben Kaon of Forest Hills says, "I'm proud to do everything I can to support Grace Meng, who will be the first Asian American member of Congress from New York. I'm ready to hit the streets to get her elected."

Hundreds of our members will soon join Assemblywoman Meng at an upcoming town hall meeting in Flushing, Queens. From then until the Democratic Primary on June 26th, our members will be out in force, phonebanking and canvassing to elect Grace Meng.
