Funding approved for major Harlem hotel project

The Wall Street Journal reports that $20 million in federal tax-exempt financing for NFL star Emmitt Smith's proposed hotel and retail project in Harlem has been approved. The developers have signed an agreement with the Hotel Trades Council ensuring that the workers will be free to organize with our union, and that at least 50% of the work force will be from among the residents of Harlem.
