Carl Paladino not the “outsider” he proclaims himself to be

Throughout his campaign, Carl Paladino has regularly railed both against Albany politicians and the special interests whose campaign contributions and insider status compromise the integrity of the legislative process. An analysis of campaign contributions conducted by the New York Times documents, however, that Paladino's conduct with respect to such contributions is consistent with that of a consummate insider, especially one whose business interests bring him into frequent dealings with state officials. In the past decade, Paladino has made campaign contributions just under $450,000 in amount to Republicans and Democrats, including governors, state legislators, and judges.
