A “destination hotel” coming to Williamsburg

Noting another marker in the New York City hotel development, the New York Times reports that Williamsburg will soon be getting a "destination hotel." The 64-room Hotel Williamsburg will have both a pool and a rooftop bar and is slated to open as early as March 2011.

The escalating number of hotels opening in areas of the city such as Williamsburg where before there had been no hotels or only a very few is a sign of the hospitality industry's rapid and vigorous resurgence in New York City. Many of these new developments are non-union, however, and HTC members need to keep in mind that each new non-union hotel undermines the high union density generations of HTC members have worked hard to build and maintain.
